STEM Day

April 13, 2024, North Carolina State University, UNC Charlotte wins 2nd Place Overall

The UNC Charlotte STEM Pre-College Program will participate in the annual STEM Day competition on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at North Carolina State University. STEM Day is a joint celebration of STEM Education and academic excellence by the STEM Pre-College Programs at Elizabeth City State University, NC State University, UNC Charlotte, and Winston-Salem State University and has an almost 40-year history. Participants will engage in an “Amazing Race,” Science Olympiad-based activities, quiz bowl, oratorical, and poster art activities.

Student participation will be based on: current enrollment in the STEM Pre-College Program; timeliness of sign-up form completion, team capacities, and grade level.

Please find the tentative program with event descriptions here.

A charter bus will depart from the UNC Charlotte Student Activity Center (SAC) Loading Dock area (where we traditionally have drop off/pick up) at 5:30 a.m. on April 13. We anticipate returning to UNC Charlotte by 7:30 p.m. on April 13. We will exceed capacity on the bus and parent chaperones are asked to drive their person vehicles. Parent chaperones are asked to complete the volunteer form here. If you are planning to drive to the event, parents will be responsible for parking on their own at NC State University. All parents and students are responsible for reporting to the Hunt Library, 1070 Partners Way, Raleigh, NC 27606 upon arrival at North Carolina State University.

Volunteers from NC State will be responsible for escorting students to their respective competition areas. Parents will only have access to a limited number of events that will be announced on the morning of the competition.

Thank you for your participation in the STEM Pre-College Program. We look forward to a successful STEM Day competition on April 13, 2024.  Please contact us at stem-precollege@charlotte.edu if you have any questions.
