The Center for STEM Education at UNC Charlotte offers a STEM Pre-College Program to broaden the pool of students pursuing mathematics, science, and engineering majors and careers. Students in grades 6-12 with interests in math and science are encouraged to apply.

The Summer Scholars programs consist of seven-week long programs during the summer months. Historically, participants engage in various hands-on-enrichment activities in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). Activities may include: field trips, lectures and demonstrations by UNC Charlotte faculty/staff/students, robotics; math and science competitions, SAT/ACT preparation; STEM Fairs, Science Olympiad and more. 

Application Fee: $250.00 (Refund Policy: All refund requests must be submitted via email to stem-precollege@uncc.edu and received 30 days prior to the start date of the program. No refunds will be granted within 30 days of the event. Refund request will take 2-3 weeks to process. There are no refunds for no-shows. A non-refundable, non-transferable deposit of $100.00 will be retained for each enrollment payment. No exceptions.)

Registration for Summer 2025 will open January 20, 2025 and will close on Friday, March 28, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. Please make sure that you submit via email to stem-precollege@uncc.edu via pdf the following required documents:

An orientation will take place for all Summer Scholars participants (middle and high school students) on Saturday, June 2, 2025 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. The orientation will take place via Zoom and will be recorded and posted here at the conclusion of the orientation. A copy of the PowerPoint presentation and logistical details will be provided after the orientation.
