The Center for STEM Education at UNC Charlotte offers a STEM Pre-College Program to broaden the pool of students pursuing mathematics, science, and engineering majors and careers. Students in grades 6-12 with interests in math and science are encouraged to apply.

The program consists of ten Saturdays during the academic year. Historically, participants engage in various hands-on-enrichment activities in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). Activities include: field trips, lectures and demonstrations by UNC Charlotte faculty/staff/students, robotics; math and science competitions, SAT/ACT preparation; STEM Fairs, Science Olympiad and more.

Registration

Registration for Fall 2024 will open May 20, 2024 and will close on Friday, August 23, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. Please make sure that you submit via email to stem-precollege@uncc.edu via pdf the following required documents:

Application;
Application Fee ($125.00); and
One (1) teacher recommendation;
Transcript/most recent report card (GPA 2.5 or higher/grade of “C” or higher in the student’s math/science classes). PowerSchool screenshots are not permitted. Student’s name and school must be evident on the transcript and report card.

Re-enrollment

Students who participated in the Spring 2024 STEM Pre-College Program are required to complete the following for participation during the Fall 2024 program:

Application;
Application Fee ($125.00); and
Transcript/most recent report card (GPA 2.5 or higher/grade of “C” or higher in the student’s math/science classes). PowerSchool screenshots are not permitted. Student’s name and school must be evident on the transcript and report card.
