The Modeling the Future Challenge is a real-world mathematical modeling competition for junior and senior high school students. The Challenge helps students learn mathematical modeling, statistics, and actuarial science by creating mathematical models about how a new technology will change the future. The Challenge also comes with hefty scholarships and awards including $50,000 in college scholarships, $5,000 in educator awards, and travel grants for all finalist teams to participate in the MTF Symposium in the spring.

UNC Charlotte is a partner in the MTF Challenge providing support to local educators who want to get involved and learn more about math modeling and actuarial science. The university is hosting a local information and training event on June 12, 9:00 – 10:30 am. More details and registration for the event are on this link: https://www.mtfchallenge.org/support/training-events/

If you are interested in learning more, but cannot make our event date, please let us know and we will find another way to provide you with the information to get going with the MTF Challenge for your 2018-2019 school year. We look forward to hearing from you and hope we can help you and your students engage with math modeling and actuarial science this coming school year!

Sincerely,

Wafaa
