Middle School Forensics

UNC Charlotte STEM Pre-College Program
Dates: July 13–17, 2026
Time: 9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. (daily)
Location: UNC Charlotte
Capacity: 25 students
Registration Fee: $250 for the week

Program Overview

The Middle School Forensics Experience is a hands-on, week-long STEM enrichment program designed to introduce middle school students to the scientific principles and investigative techniques used in forensic science. This program engages students in the application of biology, chemistry, physics, and earth science concepts to solve evidence-based problems in a structured and age-appropriate learning environment.

Through interactive morning lessons and guided demonstrations, students build foundational knowledge of forensic methods and scientific inquiry. Afternoon sessions emphasize collaborative, hands-on investigations in which participants analyze evidence, apply logical reasoning, and draw conclusions based on data. The program encourages curiosity, critical thinking, and teamwork while exposing students to STEM pathways related to forensic science and criminal investigation.

This program is intended strictly for STEM enrichment and exploration. It does not provide remedial instruction for students who are currently struggling in science or mathematics coursework.

Eligibility and Application Requirements

  • Open to middle school students (typically rising grades 6–8)
  • Interest in science, problem solving, and investigative learning is encouraged

To apply, families must:

  1. Complete the online application
  2. Submit the student’s most recent report card
  3. Pay the non-refundable registration fee of $250

Enrollment is limited to 25 students.
