Saturday Academy Spotlight: Guest Speaker Brandon Forbes

On Saturday, November 8, our Saturday Academy students had the opportunity to hear from Mr. Brandon Forbes, a Mechanical Engineer and proud parent of one of our Saturday Academy students!

Mr. Forbes, who earned his degree in Mechanical Engineering from UNC Charlotte, has worked for 18 years at Controls Southeast (CSI) in Pineville, where he has held roles such as Technical Engineer, New Product Development Engineer, Design Manager, and Quality Manager.

He volunteered his time to share insights about engineering in the consumer, commercial, and industrial sectors—from everyday items we see and use to the complex systems that keep industries running smoothly.

His engaging presentation reached approximately 150 students in attendance, inspiring them to explore how STEM principles shape the world around us.

Following his talk, students were celebrated in our bi-annual Awards Ceremony, recognizing their commitment, participation, and excellence in the Saturday Academy program.
