The Mini Carolina’s Conference, or MC^2, is Charlotte Engineering’s take on the Carolinas Conference (college level engineering competition). On February 24th, 2023 our College of Engineering faculty and students are opening their doors to high school students for a day full of hands-on engineering competitions. We are very excited to be hosting you for not only exciting competitions, but a facility tour, and a chance to work with our engineering students!

 

Competitions:

 

Electrical Engineering:

Electrical engineers design ways to produce and store energy. They can also innovate the communications systems and devices we depend on everyday. 

  • Day of competition

Mechanical Engineering:

Mechanical engineers design machinery of all sizes and shapes. They produce things like large construction equipment, medical devices, and tiny nano-machines.

Civil Engineering:

Civil engineers create and improve our infrastructure. They produce things like bridges, roads, buildings, airports, water treatment plants, and power plants. Within this category there will be 3 types of competitions

  • Environmental, rules provided day of competition
  • Geotechnology, rules provided day of competition
  • Structures, popsicle stick bridge
    • Instructions and criteria can be found here.
    • For this competition you will create your bridge prior to the competition, then arrive at the conference with your pre-built bridge to show off your hard work and compete with!
